Helping first-generation Latina moms carry less, feel more, and reconnect with themselves (and their partners).
You’ve probably been the strong one your whole life—the one who figures it out, keeps it together, and makes sure everyone else is okay.
Maybe you grew up hearing messages like “échale ganas,” “no seas egoísta,” or “la familia es lo más importante.” You learned to be responsible, capable, and dependable. Those qualities may have helped you succeed, but they may have also taught you that your needs come last.
Now you’re a mom yourself, and carrying it all feels heavy.
Between motherhood, marriage, work, and family expectations, you may find yourself overwhelmed, overthinking, resentful, or disconnected from the person you used to be. You love your family deeply, but you’re tired of being everything to everyone.
I help first-generation Latina moms who are struggling with anxiety, guilt, people-pleasing, relationship stress, and the pressure to hold it all together. Many of my clients are navigating the invisible mental load of motherhood while trying to break generational patterns and create a different future for their children.
Together, we’ll explore the beliefs, expectations, and survival strategies that helped you get this far while building new ways to care for yourself and connect with the people you love.
Therapy can help you:
• Set boundaries without so much guilt
• Quiet overthinking and self-criticism
• Strengthen communication and connection in your relationship
• Navigate family expectations with confidence
• Reconnect with your identity beyond motherhood
• Create more balance between caring for others and caring for yourself
My approach is warm, collaborative, culturally responsive, and grounded in honesty. I understand the unique pressures many first-generation Latinas carry and the tension between honoring your family and honoring yourself.
Therapy with me feels a bit like cafecito with purpose. Café de Olla Therapy was inspired by the warmth of my abuelo’s kitchen, where stories, connection, and care were shared around a cup of coffee. I strive to bring that same warmth, comfort, and familiarity into every session.
You don’t have to explain the cultural guilt, the pressure to be grateful, or why setting boundaries feels so hard. I get it.
If you’re ready to carry less, feel more, and reconnect with yourself and the relationships that matter most, I’d be honored to support you.
