Cultural Identities

About Vianey Valdez, ACSW

Hi! I’m Vianey, a Bilingual Associate Clinical Social Worker, and a DACA-mented Latina born in Mexico and raised in South Central LA.

As an immigrant, I can understand the challenges that come with navigating who you are in this world and feeling immense responsibility as the oldest child. I’m passionate about bringing decolonized mental health care to my community in a way that honors our culture and spirit.

I love working with teens and women, helping them with depression, anxiety, and trauma. I love connecting to my roots through nature, meditation, and yoga, and hope to bring that to the community as well.

Mental health, culture, and spirituality are close to my heart and I’m excited and honored to support others on their healing journeys.

Favorite Food: Tacos Dorados de Pollo y de Frijol

Education
I graduated from  California State University Long Beach with my Bachelor’s in Theater Arts. I received my Masters in Social Work from University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

Treatment Methods and Philosophy
My approach to therapy weaves together holistic, decolonized, and culturally affirming practices. I skillfully combine evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing with a deep commitment to honoring clients’ lived experiences, cultural roots, and mind-body connection. My work reflects a grounded and empowering lens that supports healing on every level.
