As a first generation American I bring in empathy and cultural understanding to the unique experience of the Latinx community. However, the community is not a monolith and each person deserves a space to explore their unique lived experience including how systems around them have played a factor in their lives. I believe that each person's journey should be honored and that they should be met with respect, patience, and where they are on that journey. Everyone's life takes different turns and I take a person centered approach,  you are the expert in your world! The therapeutic alliance is crucial and required in order to build trust and make progress. I focus on making sure the client feels comfortable and safe in our environment before moving into the murky feelings that have been difficult to address, unpack and move through. As a person of color working with marginalized communities, whom are often times seeking therapy for the first time, I make sure to create space for addressing how systemic injustices affect them, us, and our work. I validate their experience and stay mindful of the importance of social justice within the therapy office.
