I have been providing psychotherapy since 2008, and have expertise in treating PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety, and moral injury. I have over a decade of experience working with Veterans in the VA, which offered opportunities for specialized PTSD therapy training and working with people from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of trauma histories.
I approach my work from a radically genuine stance. To me that means I come to you as another human navigating this painful world, with authenticity and openness, and I will be direct and transparent with you. I believe that you already have within you what is needed to heal, and hope to walk alongside you in connecting with that intuition and wisdom.
My father immigrated to America from Cuba when he was six years old and there was pressure to acculturate. Growing up, my family spoke Spanish around me, but not to me. Not speaking Spanish has impacted my identity development, and led to feelings of not being Latina enough, but also not identifying with being white. I have found this feeling of not belonging to be experienced by many first and second generation Americans. This is part of my lived experience that I bring to my work if that is something that resonates with you.
