Cultural Identities

About Roxanne Palmer, LCSW-S

You deserve a space where all of who you are is seen, honored, and supported. I specialize in supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals, Black, Indigenous, Latino/a/x, Asian and other people of color, and people living with HIV. Whether you’re exploring identity, healing from trauma, experiencing depression, anxiety, or seeking a therapist who understands the impact of systemic oppression, I’m here to walk with you…without judgment and with deep respect for your lived experience.

My Background and Approach

Prior to starting my private practice, I spent over 8 years as a therapist, program director, and medical case manager for one of the largest LGBTQIA+ community centers in Texas. My clinical approach is client-centered and grounded in intersectionality; ensuring that cultural identity, systemic oppression, and personal history are not just acknowledged but honored as vital pieces of the healing journey. I practice with a strengths-based perspective and strive to help empower you. I utilize a variety of modalities based on your needs and what works best for you (CBT, ACT, and Narrative just to name a few). I am flexible and can adjust to detours on your healing journey. The therapeutic space I create is safe, warm, affirming, relaxed, and informal. Together in therapy, you may find the strength to rise, the space to let go, and the courage to step into your own light.

My Personal Beliefs

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Supervisor who strongly believes in social/racial justice, equity for all folx, and that love will conquer hate. As a Latina and member of the LGBTQIA+ community I understand biases, overt and covert discrimination, and am aware of the attempts to erase or further oppress our communities. I also recognize my privilege and utilize it to lift up others. One’s financial situation shouldn’t be a barrier to therapy so I offer a sliding scale and I am on various insurance panels. I view healing as a sacred unfolding: an act of resilience, renewal and trust in one’s own rhythm. Just like the flor de luna (moonflower) blooms in the quiet of the night, healing does not always happen in the daylight of certainty. It emerges in stillness, in moments of struggle, in the courage to grow even when the world is dark. I am honored to walk with you on your healing journey. You can take the first step towards growth by contacting me for your free 15-min phone consultation.
