Cultural Identities

About Rosa 'Roxy' Shadrin-Toledo, LCSW, RYT 200

You may appear strong and capable on the outside, yet internally feel overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure of yourself…

You may carry a lot for others while struggling with self doubt, trauma, or feeling disconnected from who you truly are….

Many of my clients are thoughtful and self aware, yet feel stuck in patterns they cannot fully explain and want to feel more grounded, clear, and at home within themselves. As a queer Latina therapist, I bring both cultural understanding and openness, while recognizing your experiences are uniquely your own. Therapy can be a space where you feel understood and supported as you reconnect with yourself.

My approach is trauma informed and integrates somatic awareness, mindfulness, parts work (Internal family systems/IFS), ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy), and CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy). I help you understand the emotional and nervous system patterns underlying anxiety and self doubt so you can feel more grounded and develop self trust.

I work specifically with young adult women and gender diverse individuals (genderqueer/nonbinary) navigating anxiety, trauma, and strained family relationships. Many feel caught between family expectations and their own needs, carry responsibility for others’ emotional wellbeing, or feel guilt when prioritizing themselves.

As for myself, my name is Rosa Shadrin-Toledo, I also go by Roxy. I am a Latina of Peruvian heritage with Quechua ancestry, and I identify as a neurodivergent and queer therapist. Growing up brown in the South, I learned firsthand what it means to move through a world where people who look like you are rarely represented. Born in Queens, New York, and raised in Apex, North Carolina, I bring both my lived experience and my professional training into the therapy room to support clients on their healing journey.

I love being in nature, cuddling with my three fur babies, spending time with friends and family, listening to everything from reggaetón to punk rock, going to concerts, practicing yoga, traveling, trying new restaurants, and connecting with spiritual practices such as tarot, oracle decks, altar building, and candle work.

If you think we might be a good match, contact me for a free 15-20 minute consultation.
