About Rafael Cazares, LMFT

Hi I’m Rafael, a bilingual LMFT helping you build the secure connections you deserve and a life that is truly yours. My journey to becoming a therapist was shaped by my own experience of navigating different worlds and the brave effort it takes to build a path that wasn’t modeled for you. I saw how cultural stigmas around mental health often silenced necessary conversations, creating more noise and anxiety than closeness. This inspired me to create a space where we can do something different.

I work with those ready to show up differently for themselves and those around them. You are likely the one doing the hard work of changing the family story, but carrying a legacy you are still building is exhausting. I specifically focus on what I call the First Gen Tax. This is that innate drive to over-function and the persistent sense that you cannot slow down without betraying the sacrifices made to get you here. It leads to an always on nervous system that equates rest with danger. As a Latino male therapist, I am passionate about helping the BIPOC community, men, and couples move from the heavy lifting of just getting by to a place where they can finally feel at home in their own lives.

My approach is shaped by a former career in Information Technology, and I remain a systems thinker at heart. I view your story through the lens of context, relationships, and physical reality. I help you identify the generational patterns and emotional blocks that keep your professional and personal life feeling stuck. Grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and the emotional depth of EFT, we focus on building the mental flexibility needed to stay open and aware. For couples, I use Gottman principles to help you trade survival patterns for intentional connection.

I help those who find themselves in the role of the armored provider running on fumes to become the connected and present partners or parents they truly want to be. Whether you are the family anchor or a professional navigating code-switching between different worlds, my goal is to help you dismantle the expectations that no longer serve you so you can begin to author a future of your own design. I bring my full personality and warmth into every session because I believe the deepest work happens when therapy feels human. As a stay at home father during the day and a therapist in the evening, I offer weekend and evening availability to meet you in the quiet hours when you are free to focus. You do not have to carry the weight of change or the pressure of navigating these worlds alone. I cannot promise you this work will be easy, but I will be there to encourage, empower, and challenge you.
