Welcome to Empoder Therapy! I have been a bilingual therapist (English and Spanish) for 11 years and truly enjoy the work I do. I strive to provide a non-judgmental and supportive environment as you process and learn evidence based, mental health skills. I love to work with clients of all backgrounds and value cultural humility in the therapeutic setting, above all else. As a therapist, I use an intersectional, empowerment, and trauma informed approach in my work with a strong emphasis on psycho-education. I am trained in Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) , Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I predominantly work with trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, race related trauma, and with those in the LGBT+ community. I am a sex work affirmative and sex positive therapist from a harm reduction framework. I was born and raised in El Paso, TX and was fortunate enough to experience the beauty and complexities of being raised in an immigrant household. As a Mexican-American, and native Spanish speaker, it is also a privilege of mine to be able to provide those in the Latinx community with familiarity of family dynamics, cultura, and traditions. I completed graduate school at the University of Denver in 2015 and after completing graduate school, I worked as a generalist therapist, in community mental health. During that time, I facilitated empowerment, chronic pain, grief and loss, relapse prevention, bipolar, and DBT groups in an outpatient setting for 7 years. Along with individual and group therapy experience, I supervised new therapists seeking licensure for three years. Unfortunately, most of us are not taught how to name, process and address dysfunctional thinking patterns and as we become adults, negatively impacting our mental health. As a therapist, I hope to use empathy, kindness (and appropriate use of humor) to empower clients to assertively set boundaries and practice self-love. I am licensed in the state of Colorado and because I work virtually, I am able to see anybody for therapy, within the state. Please outreach ra****************@gm***.com or give me a call at (720)445-6012 for scheduling. I look forward to meeting you! Rachel Calderon MSW, LCSW: Book here.
