Hola and welcome! My name is Misleydis González García, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and National Certified Counselor passionate about supporting the emotional well-being of the Latinx and multicultural community in Florida. My goal is to create a safe, compassionate, and culturally sensitive space where you can explore your emotions, reconnect with your strengths, and move toward healing and balance.
As a bilingual therapist (English/Spanish), I understand that language and culture shape how we experience and express our emotions. For many in our community, seeking therapy is not always easy. We are often taught to be strong, to carry our struggles quietly, or to put others’ needs before our own. In therapy, I work with you to transform that silence into self-awareness, empowerment, and emotional growth.
My journey began in Cuba, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the Universidad de Ciencias Médicas of Pinar del Río. There, I learned to view mental health as deeply connected to family, community, and culture. After moving to the U.S., I completed a Master of Science in Psychology with a concentration in Mental Health Counseling at Albizu University in Florida—an institution recognized for its focus on multicultural and bilingual psychology. These experiences shaped my holistic, culturally responsive approach to care.
Over the years, I have worked across diverse settings including community mental health centers, schools, home-based services, and private practice. I currently provide therapy through Growth Therapy, Headway, and Southwest Florida Medical Group, offering telehealth sessions to children, adolescents, adults, and families. My therapeutic style is integrative and person-centered, combining evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-Based Interventions. Within this framework, I also integrate art therapy techniques as an expressive and supportive method that enhances emotional exploration and self-regulation. Art is not the focus of my entire practice but an additional tool I use to help clients express what may be difficult to put into words.
In sessions, my priority is to create a space where you feel respected, understood, and safe to be yourself. I believe therapy is a partnership—together we set meaningful goals that promote emotional healing, growth, and resilience. My approach is warm, collaborative, and rooted in empathy. I see my role not as “fixing” anyone but as walking beside you as you discover your own strengths, values, and sense of peace.
As a Latinx clinician, I deeply value the cultural richness and resilience within our community. Many of my clients face unique challenges related to immigration, identity, acculturation, or intergenerational differences. In therapy, we explore how these experiences shape your emotions and relationships, while honoring both your heritage and your individuality. My goal is to help you find balance between cultures—embracing where you come from while growing into who you want to become.
I also believe that therapy should be accessible and stigma-free. Seeking help is not a weakness; it is an act of courage and self-love. I am committed to breaking down barriers that keep our communities from getting the care they deserve—through compassion, education, and cultural understanding.
Outside of therapy, I continue expanding my knowledge in trauma-informed care, recovery-oriented cognitive therapy, and integrative wellness. I also enjoy organizing art-based and community workshops that promote creativity, mindfulness, and emotional health for children and families.
If you are looking for a space where you can feel seen, supported, and empowered, I would be honored to walk with you on your journey. Together, we can work toward reconnecting with your inner strength, cultivating self-compassion, and creating a more balanced, meaningful life.
Healing is not about erasing the past—it’s about learning to live with it with love, understanding, and hope.
Misleydis Gonzalez, LMHC, NCC
