I believe we can create a healthy life for ourselves by looking at how our every day reality is influenced by our personal experiences, including our cultural and historical background. By exploring the issues and concerns that are impacting your life today, we can work towards healing hurts from the past and learn new skills that will help you reach your present-day goals.
Therapy is one of many paths you can take to heal, as your therapist, I participate in your growth by supporting, encouraging, and facilitating you through the changes and growing pains you may encounter along the way. Sometimes that looks like listening, other times it can be reminders for self-compassion and acceptance. I work through the lens of socio-political-cultural influences as I believe the larger context influences our personal experiences.
My practice is focused on serving BIPOC women/femme identified people and is a safe place for those who identify as LGBTQ+. I enjoy working with other first generation children from immigrant families who are struggling with anxiety, depression, spiritual and relationship issues, and trauma, including generational and colonial trauma that shows up in the present. My clients tend to be people who have struggled to find a therapist who reflects their identity and political orientations. I prefer to do long term relational work as I believe relationships are key to healing. I have both in-person appointments and virtual sessions available. You can call or email to set up a free twenty minute phone consultation to see if my services are a good match for you.
