I am a first-generation Venezuelan-American born and raised in the small, rural town of Oxford, Ohio. I graduated with a BA in History and Human Rights from Bard College Berlin and an Advanced Masters in Clinical Social Work and Social Administration from the University of Chicago. I was inspired to work in human rights and mental health due to my family and friends’ experiences of displacement from Venezuela. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked with grassroots movements focusing on migration rights, environmental justice, and community storytelling in the US, Germany, Panama, and Japan, as well as social justice education and culturally responsive pedagogy programs in the Dominican Republic and Spain. In addition to therapy, I work as an English-Spanish mental health interpreter for psychotherapy for survivors of torture and political violence, and individuals affected by the US migration system.
My therapeutic practice is rooted in Liberation Psychology, meaning I believe that psychological distress is often a response to a hostile and unjust world and that as a therapist I have the responsibility to engage in dismantling systems that cause harm to people who come to me as clients. I integrate a wide range of modalities in my practice including EMDR, Narrative Therapy, Family Systems, Art Therapy, spiritual exploration, somatic approaches, Harm Reduction, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, relational-cultural therapy and intercultural dialogue facilitation. I use a strengths-based and holistic approach and seek to create a collaborative, empathic therapeutic environment. I enjoy incorporating clients’ religious and spiritual beliefs, as well as spiritual coping and resilience into sessions. I am committed to providing culturally responsive, antiracist, gender-affirming, and accessible care to my clients. I additionally provide psychological assessments for immigrations cases.
I can provide sessions in both English and Spanish.
