Cultural Identities

About Maylin Robles, LCSW

Hello, and welcome. My name is Maylin Robles and I am a bilingual (English and Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker and founder of The Oaks Therapy. I provide therapy for adolescents and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, identity concerns, and feelings of not fully belonging. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and understood as you work toward healing and personal growth.

As a Latina therapist of Panamanian heritage, I understand how culture, family dynamics, language, and life experiences can shape the way we see ourselves and interact with the world. Many of the clients I work with feel pulled between family expectations, cultural values, personal goals, and the realities of everyday life. They may struggle with self-doubt, people-pleasing, anxiety, family conflict, or the lasting impact of difficult experiences. Therapy can provide an opportunity to explore these challenges, build insight, and develop healthier ways of coping.

Throughout my career, I have worked in community mental health, correctional settings, and trauma-focused services. These experiences have allowed me to support individuals from diverse backgrounds facing a wide range of concerns. I have worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief, bipolar disorders, borderline personality disorder, and significant life transitions. I am especially passionate about helping individuals heal from trauma, strengthen their sense of self, and build meaningful, fulfilling lives.

My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based. I believe that every person has strengths and resilience, even during periods when they feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, I work collaboratively with clients to understand their experiences, identify patterns, and create goals that reflect their values and needs.

My therapeutic style is warm, conversational, and collaborative. I strive to create an environment where clients feel comfortable showing up as their authentic selves. You do not need to have all the answers before starting therapy. Whether you come to session with a specific concern or simply a sense that something is not working, we can explore it together.

I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and person-centered interventions. I tailor treatment to each individual because I believe therapy is most effective when it reflects a client’s unique experiences, strengths, and goals.

Seeking therapy can be a vulnerable step, and finding the right therapist matters. My goal is to provide a space where you feel respected, empowered, and supported throughout your journey. I would be honored to walk alongside you as you work toward healing, growth, and a deeper understanding of yourself.
