Cultural Identities

About Mariana Ormeño, LPC-A

I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) who works with adult children of immigrants, and families navigating cultural, generational, and relational transitions. As a child of immigrants myself, I understand firsthand the complexity of living between cultures—the pride, the pressure, the responsibility, and the unspoken expectations that often come with it. My work is rooted in honoring your story, your identity, and the resilience you carry, while also creating space to gently challenge patterns that no longer serve you.

Many of my clients come to therapy feeling emotionally overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or stuck in cycles of self-doubt and people-pleasing. Others feel guilt for wanting more independence, setting boundaries, or choosing a life path that looks different from what their family envisioned. Some are navigating relationships where communication feels hard, where emotional needs feel unmet, or where old attachment wounds are resurfacing. Whatever brings you to therapy, my goal is to help you feel seen, understood, and supported—without judgment.

My therapeutic approach is multicultural, relational, and feminist at its core. This means I take into account how culture, gender roles, immigration experiences, family dynamics, religion, and systemic factors impact mental health. I do not view your struggles as individual “failures,” but as understandable responses to the environments and relationships you have lived in. Together, we work to build insight, emotional safety, and practical tools so you can move through life with more clarity, self-trust, and self-compassion.

I draw from a blend of evidence-based and relational approaches, including attachment-based therapy, emotion-focused interventions, cognitive and somatic awareness, and mindfulness. I pay close attention to patterns in relationships—how you learned to give, receive, protect yourself, or stay silent. Therapy with me is collaborative and paced; we go at a speed that feels safe for you. I believe healing happens not by being “fixed,” but by being deeply understood and supported as you reconnect with your authentic self.

A special focus of my work is supporting parent–child relationships, particularly adult daughters and mothers who are navigating generational and cultural differences. These relationships can be deeply loving and deeply complicated. In therapy, we work on improving communication, reducing resentment, and creating healthier emotional boundaries while still honoring family values and cultural ties.

I also work with individuals experiencing anxiety, attachment-related concerns, life transitions, identity exploration, and relationship stress. Many of my clients are high-achieving, sensitive, and deeply caring people who have learned to put others first. Therapy becomes a space where you are finally allowed to take up space—to name your needs, explore your emotions, and redefine what balance and fulfillment look like for you.

As a therapist, I show up as warm, attuned, and grounded. I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is healing, and I prioritize creating a space where you feel emotionally safe, respected, and empowered. I welcome humor, tears, curiosity, and silence—whatever shows up authentically for you. Therapy is not about having all the answers; it’s about learning how to listen to yourself with more kindness and clarity.

Whether you are seeking support in Spanish or English, beginning therapy for the first time, or returning to therapy at a new stage in your life, you are welcome here. You do not have to navigate this alone. Healing is possible, and you deserve support that honors all parts of who you are.
