Narrative Therapy
I believe that story-telling and other modes of creativity help us re-connect with the stories that highlight our knowledge, skills, resources and abilities. Each of us is an expert regarding our own life; we all have the resources to problem-solve and move toward our preferred future. My practice is heavily influenced by Narrative Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy , two modalities that are inherently trauma-informed, culturally-responsive and anti-oppressive. The healing process can include many things outside of therapy. Your passions and interests contain important clues about your life's purpose. If you invite me to work with you, we will partner to surface your stories of strength, courage, knowledge, skill and ability. These alternative stories will support you in re- aligning with your values, hopes, dreams and ultimately your spirit. I have been practicing social work and psychotherapy for over thirty years in the Bay Area primarily working with women, youth and Latinx and LGBTQQ communities. For the past 11 years I taught Narrative Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy as well as founded and ran the Sin Fronteras program at UC Berkeley’s School of Social Welfare.
