Hi! I’m Ligia (she/her/ella), a First-Gen Latinx Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for Anxiety Therapy in Los Angeles.
I help First-Gen and Queer adults who feel anxious, emotionally overwhelmed, or disconnected with themselves.
You’ve always been the one who keeps the peace, take care of everyone else, or avoids conflict to stay safe. You’ve felt like you’ve lost touch with your own needs, values, or truth. You’ve started to wonder who you are underneath all the roles you’ve taken on in putting the needs of others before your own.
I have worked with First Gen and Queer adults who have often asked themselves:
– Who am I outside of my roles or my family’s expectations?
– What do I want in my relationships, my gender, my body, my life?
– How do I stop saying yes when I mean no?
As a Therapist in Los Angeles, I provide a safe space to explore those questions without shame, and learn to feel more grounded with yourself. My style is warm, open, and collaborative.
Why This Work Matters to Me:
I know what it’s like to want to be seen, to feel accepted for all of who you are, and still feel invisible. Growing up as a First-Gen Latinx kid, raised between cultures and systems, I learned I had to follow, appease, and be overly empathetic in order to survive. I stayed quiet, didn’t take up too much space, and did what was expected.
That experience shaped me deeply, and it’s what drives me to do this work. I care deeply about creating a space where you don’t have to translate your experiences or hold back the parts that feel too complicated.
I support First Gen and Queer adults who are:
–Questioning their identity, gender, or sense of self
–Feeling stuck in people-pleasing or anxiety cycles
–Unlearning cultural and family dynamics that shut down their voice
–Working through shame, indecision, or emotional disconnection
–Seeking a space to be seen, without having to over-explain
Together, in Anxiety therapy in Los Angeles, we’ll explore your beliefs and emotional patterns that have shaped you. Help you move from uncertainty and self-doubt. Learn to feel grounded in your sense of self. Gain clarity in making choices for yourself. Our work is centered around growing your insight and to help you start feeling safer in your body and in your relationships.
Clients often tell me they feel more confident setting boundaries, make clearer decisions, and feel lighter in their emotional lives. They tell me their anxiety softens, their voice strengthens, and that they begin to feel like themselves again.
If you’re ready to feel more like yourself and are curious about starting anxiety counseling from the comfort of your home in California with a Latinx therapist in LA who understands your lived experience. I’d invite you to contact me for your free 15-minute phone consultation so we can talk through what support might look like for you. And if I’m not the right therapist, I’ll do my best to help you find someone who is.
