Welcome and congratulations to you on making the first steps to getting some support! My name is Dr. Leslie and I identify as a queer bilingual Latiné psychologist.
I am a product of two hard working Colombian immigrants and grew up in the greater Los Angeles area. I come from a family line of entrepreneurs, creatives, trades people, and artists. I am familiar with the demographics of my city, historical challenges for a number of the minority groups that reside within and the specific needs of both my queer and Latiné neighbors.
As a healer, some common mental health struggles that I provide support with are low self-esteem, low-motivation, uncontrollable worries, negative self-talk, relationship wounds and difficulties with communicating needs. Some of my areas of speciality include managing depression, stress and trauma.
I want to make it clear that mental health struggles are unique to each individual and I make sure we have an open dialogue about how this may be true for you. This often includes an exploration of your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual experiences to help identify ways to develop a more connected relationship with yourself and others. This also involves holding space for conversations about how systemic racism and intergenerational cultural factors impact your daily struggles.
I take the time to create a safe space where you can discuss your life experiences with confidence and highlight your strengths without judgement. It is important to me that Mental Health Services be accessible to everyone and by providers that look and speak like everyday people. Additionally, I am passionate about working with immigrant populations and provide immigration evaluation services.
