Are you the one everyone counts on—la hija buena, la esposa buena, la madre abnegada? The dependable one. The strong one. The one who keeps everything running. From the outside, your life may look stable, responsible, even admirable. You handle things. You show up. You take care of everyone else. But inside, you might feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or quietly disconnected from yourself. Maybe you’ve noticed you’re repeating the same painful patterns in your relationships—the same arguments, the same reactions, the same dynamics that once hurt you—and you find yourself asking, Why do I keep doing this? without knowing how to change it.
Many women, especially within Latinx families, grow up with powerful messages about sacrifice, loyalty, endurance, and gratitude. We are taught to put family first, to be resilient, to carry responsibility without complaint. These values are beautiful and deeply meaningful. They create strong families and deep bonds. But sometimes, constantly being the strong one leaves very little space for your own emotional needs. Over time, that pressure can show up as anxiety, sadness, irritability, guilt, burnout, or a quiet sense that you’ve lost touch with parts of who you are.
Therapy is a place where you don’t have to hold it all together.
With me, you can speak openly—in English or Spanish—without having to explain your culture, justify your boundaries, or minimize your feelings. We’ll gently explore what has shaped you: family roles, generational expectations, immigration stories, attachment patterns, relationship stress, and old wounds that may still be living in your nervous system. This work is not about blaming your family or rejecting your culture. It’s about understanding how your experiences have impacted you so you can begin responding differently.
I believe real change starts with slowing down. Instead of criticizing yourself for repeating patterns, we become curious about them. We look at what those behaviors once protected you from and whether they are still serving you now. We begin separating what truly belongs to you from what you learned to carry in order to survive, succeed, or keep the peace. That clarity alone can feel relieving.
In addition to traditional talk therapy, I integrate brain-based approaches such as EMDR and Brainspotting. Sometimes you understand your story logically, but your body still reacts with anxiety, tension, shutdown, or emotional overwhelm. That’s because emotional pain isn’t stored only in thoughts—it’s also stored in the nervous system. These gentle, structured methods help your brain and body process what feels “stuck,” without forcing you to relive every painful detail. We work at a pace that feels safe and grounded.
Many women describe feeling lighter, calmer, and less reactive as therapy progresses. Situations that once triggered intense responses begin to feel more manageable. There is more space between feeling and reacting. More clarity in communication. More confidence in setting boundaries. More self-trust.
My goal isn’t to change who you are or disconnect you from your culture or family. It’s to help you reconnect with the real you—the version of you that exists beneath expectations and pressure. The woman who can love deeply and remain loyal, but from a place of choice rather than obligation. Healing doesn’t mean abandoning your roots; it means finally including yourself in the picture.
