Hello! I’m Jose Pinal, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in California and an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist. Providing individual therapy and couple’s therapy, I address complex issues related to sex, sexuality, mismatched sexual desires, and sexual dysfunctions. My approach is deeply rooted in Emotionally Focused Therapy, a modality I’ve embraced to help couples break free from negative patterns and forge stronger, more intimate bonds. Through this method, I guide couples in acknowledging and addressing their emotional needs, ensuring both partners feel seen, heard, and deeply connected.
My educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from San Jose State University and a Master’s degree in Couples and Family Therapy from Alliant International University. I’ve also completed advanced training at the California Institute of Integral Studies in Sex Therapy, setting me on the path to becoming a Certified Sex Therapist. Currently, I’m furthering my expertise in Emotionally Focused Therapy, aspiring to gain certification from The International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy.
My identity as a cisgender male, Latinx, and bisexual, along with my experiences as a son of parents born in Mexico with little to no access to education, brother to siblings who were involved in street and drug culture, a husband, and a father, deeply inform my therapeutic approach. These facets of my life enhance my sensitivity to diverse client responses and perspectives, enriching our interactions in the therapy room. I am committed to creating a non-judgmental, sex-positive, and Kink/BDSM affirming space where every aspect of your individuality is respected and celebrated. Our sessions will be marked by a sense of curiosity, allowing us to venture into new realms of understanding and exploration. My goal is to assist you in achieving a fulfilling sexual life and a deeper connection with your partner, helping you navigate and overcome personal barriers toward a life of greater satisfaction and liberation.
