As a first-generation immigrant with Andean and Quechua roots, I can comprehend unique experiences our complexities can bring on top of life’s challenges as well as mental health conditions. My therapeutic training has been key in aiding people with immigration background. In turn, my lived experiences have served as one source from where I draw empathy. My philosophy lays in the idea that through conversation and exploration we are all able to become aware of patterns created through our life’s experiences which can currently affect us, develop healthy ways to navigate interactions, and have the opportunity to live a stable and healthy life. There is no “one size fits all” approach to therapy. This is why I utilizes a combination of practices to best drive the therapeutic journey with a focus on psychodynamic and humanistic approaches. I believe that exploring current situations paired with reflecting on past experiences can be a recipe to develop awareness which can drive the change process. I believe change is a process that requires emotional work. I do not know it all and will not tell you what to do. We will collaborate in starting where you are. Together we will be able to explore and unpack historical and life-long internalized messages. I also value boundaries and respect; this is key for any relationship and for us to develop a healthy therapeutic alliance. Therapy with me is a balance of being challenged and emotionally held.
