Cultural Identities

About ON LEAVE- Janneth Liborio-Lulo

I identify as a wombyn, mother, hermana and a costeña xicana whose lineage descends from Oaxaca and Guerrero, Mexico. I earned my Masters degree in Social Work from San Jose State University and my Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley. Many moons ago I worked for a School District’s attendance team, I was a resource specialist at a school resource center and as a County Social Worker. Most recently, I’ve worked as a therapist supporting the undocumented and migrant community through a non-profit clinic.

I am a bilingual and bicultural, inclusive therapist utilizing a strength-based and client-centered approach. I incorporate culture, nature and teachings from our ancestors into the therapeutic space. I love working with adults seeking support with acculturation, intergenerational trauma, identifying and unlearning machismo culture, unpacking the immigration experience and stressors, grief/loss, depression and the emotional identity shift that comes with becoming a new mom.

Through a decolonized mental health approach I also have the honor to support clients navigate life transitions, process psychological wounds, and reconnect with their ancestral knowledge and wisdom. To be heard is powerful, to be seen is powerful and I seek to do just that during our time together. I welcome the opportunity to walk alongside you in this transformative healing journey.
