Itzel Camarillo, Pre-Licensed Professional

About Itzel Camarillo, Pre-Licensed Professional

Itzel Camarillo (she/they/ella) is a bilingual mental health counselor dedicated to making therapy accessible, collaborative, and grounded in cultural humility. She works with adults navigating anxiety, burnout, depression, perfectionism, and stress, as well as identity-related and relationship concerns that can leave people feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves.

As a queer, first-generation Mexican-American, Itzel brings a deep awareness of how cultural identity, migration history, family dynamics, and lived experiences shape mental health. She is committed to creating a space where clients feel safe to show up as they are, while also being gently challenged to grow. Itzel approaches therapy as a partnership built on curiosity, respect, and authenticity. She believes in the power of insight as a foundation for long-term change and works with clients to understand the “why” behind their emotions, coping patterns, communication styles, and relationships, not just how to get through the day.

She is especially passionate about working with clients navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, identity and self-esteem concerns, neurodivergence (including ADHD and autism), body image, chronic stress, and major life transitions through a trauma-informed lens. Above all, Itzel sees therapy as a space to be heard, to develop self-understanding, and to build a life that feels more grounded, authentic, and sustainable.

Itzel earned her B.A. in Psychology and Linguistics from Barnard College, Columbia University, and is currently completing her M.A./M.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling in the Bilingual Latina/o Concentration at Teachers College, Columbia University. In her free time, she enjoys creating mixed-media art and playing with her cat, Professor Biscuit.
