Cultural Identities

About Isela Garcia White, LCSW, therapist and founder of Lotus Bloom Therapy

Hi, I’m Isela Garcia White, LCSW, therapist and founder of Lotus Bloom Therapy. I provide virtual therapy for adults throughout California, with a particular focus on supporting Latinx, BIPOC, and first- and second-generation college students and professionals.

You may be used to working hard, meeting expectations, and appearing capable while privately feeling anxious, overwhelmed, burned out, or unsure of yourself. You may be navigating perfectionism or impostor feelings, pressure to succeed, family or cultural expectations, or the challenge of figuring out what you want while honoring the people and values that matter to you. These experiences can also include being the first in your family to attend college or enter a professional setting, navigating multiple cultural worlds, or carrying responsibilities that others around you may not fully understand.

As a first-generation Latina and daughter of immigrants, I understand how culture, family, identity, and lived experience can shape the way we understand ourselves and move through the world. I strive to offer a space where you do not have to separate these parts of yourself from the concerns that bring you to therapy.

My approach is culturally responsive, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and collaborative. I draw from CBT, ACT, interpersonal therapy, and other evidence-based approaches while recognizing that emotional struggles do not exist in isolation from our relationships, communities, identities, and broader social experiences. Together, we can build practical ways of coping with stress while also exploring the patterns, expectations, and experiences that may be contributing to how you feel.

In addition to my areas of focus, I support clients experiencing anxiety, grief and loss, mild to moderate depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, and political stress and uncertainty.

Clients often come to me feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves. Therapy can offer a space to slow down, better understand what you are carrying, develop more effective ways of coping, and move toward greater clarity and a stronger sense of self.

In our first session, we’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and what has or hasn’t been helpful before. My goal is to create a space that feels collaborative, respectful, and responsive to your needs.

I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to help you decide whether we may be a good fit. My private-pay fee is $200 per 50-minute session, and I am also in-network with Aetna, Aetna EAP, and Aetna Student Health (UC Berkeley SHIP). Sliding scale fees may be available on a case-by-case basis.

If you’re looking for a Latina therapist who understands the intersections of identity, culture, family, achievement, and emotional well-being, I invite you to reach out through this profile or visit my website at www.lotusbloomtherapy.org.
