About Irene Nunez, LCSW, PMH-C, EMDR Approved Consultant

I believe we all have unique stories and healing paths. I would be honored to be invited to provide you with a welcoming place to tell your story and to be a part of your healing journey. I have so much admiration and gratitude for you and your willingness to begin your healing.   My focus is to help women who are cycle breakers to begin their healing journey, energize, reprocess traumatic events, break patterns of intergenerational trauma, connect with their inner child/inner ancestor and become aware of their inner warrior strengths. These populations include and are not limited to: tweens, teens, adolescents, young professionals, mother’s and other therapists.

One of my unique specialties is working with mommas in various stages of motherhood: infertility, perinatal, pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. I have years of experience working with BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ parents in the perinatal period. The perinatal period can be a time of many transitions. I have extensive training in PMADs (perinatal mood and anxiety disorders), pregnancy loss and termination, teen parents, NICU parenting and trauma, birth trauma, perinatal trauma, and how childhood trauma can show up in parenthood.

My focus is to help the mommas I work with identify how past childhood or early adulthood trauma wounds are resurfacing during all stages of motherhood. I help moms learn how to reparent themselves (inner children) as they are navigating parenthood by empowering them to recognize they are the cycle breakers in their families and for future generations to come. I integrate the use of EMDR, Brainspotting, attachment trauma work, parts work (ego states), somatic experiencing, music, dance and inner child healing.

As a part time lecturer professor at California State University, Fullerton, I am teaching a trauma informed social work class  and advanced practice for child welfare and community mental  health to students in their master of social work program (MSW). Fun fact, this is also the program I attended for my MSW, my alma mater.

In addition to therapy I offer EMDR consultation to therapists in their certification process. I also conduct immigration psychological evaluations for USCIS cases such as: U-Visa, T-Visa, VAWA, Extreme Hardships, and Asylum. I offer immigration psychological evaluations in the states of: CA, MA, NV, and FL.
