I. Alexis Hernandez Rueda, LMFT-Associate, supervised by Alejandra Peña, LMFT-S, LPC-S
Hola! I’m Alexis and I am a queer, Latine, first-generation graduate working with clients in Texas. Como Chicano, ofrezco terapia bilingüe en Inglés y Español. I specialize in clients struggling with life transitions, family stress, acculturation issues, and pre-marital counseling using Gottman techniques. Ask me about the Texas Two-Gether program!
As Latinos, we often encounter cultural choques, especially in values. My clients often struggle to find their place, feeling confused about their identity and values. Who we are, and the stories we tell ourselves are very important. They are the reason we get up everyday and give us motivation during hard times. Every day, we contribute to our life story. But some aspects of our story are influenced by our identities in society. I believe that there is power in reclaiming our story. My goal is to provide a safe, inviting, and culturally sensitive therapeutic space where you can become empowered by your story. I approach therapy in an existential and narrative lens, with somatic and mindfulness influences. Ultimately, I pay close attention to the why underlying parts of your story to identify the meaning in what you bring up. Together, we will understand your values and find ways to embody them to work for you and those you care about.
If you want to discuss working together, I offer free 20 minute consultation calls!
