Cultural Identities

About Erika Esquivel LCSW

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California, I support adults, teens, and college age clients who are navigating trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship or family conflict, and deep emotional wounds that have been carried for far too long. I work through a warm, nurturing, and supportive lens while also bringing a calm, grounded, and clinical presence to the room. My goal is to help you feel safe, understood, and truly seen as a whole person, especially if you grew up in a culture where emotions were minimized, stigmatized, or treated as something you push through rather than process.

As a first-generation Mexican American, I know firsthand the cultural stigmas and taboos many of us were raised with, such as staying strong, not burdening others, avoiding difficult emotions, and keeping family struggles private. These experiences deeply shaped my path toward becoming a therapist. I became a clinician because I wanted our communities to have access to healing spaces that feel culturally attuned, compassionate, and free of judgment. Spaces where trauma is understood, where identity and lived experience matter, and where emotional and generational wounds are met with care, not shame.

In my practice, I specialize in EMDR, trauma therapy, inner child and parts work, emotional regulation, attachment wounds, childhood trauma, and identity or culturally based stress. I also support high achieving professionals, working mothers, Latinx and first generation clients, LGBTQ clients, and trauma survivors who carry significant pressure, self criticism, or unresolved emotional pain. My approach helps clients slow down, reconnect with themselves, build internal safety, and gently explore what is underneath the anxiety, grief, or burnout.

Whether you are moving through longstanding trauma, navigating a painful loss, untangling family dysfunction, or learning to understand the parts of you that protect, numb, or disconnect, therapy with me is a place where you are not alone. My role is to help you feel empowered, hopeful, and confident in your ability to heal, grow, and move forward at a pace that feels right for you. I offer telehealth only services across California to make therapy accessible, flexible, and supportive of busy lives.

You deserve support that honors your story, your culture, and your resilience. I am here to walk with you as you build emotional clarity, strengthen your inner world, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that have been waiting to be seen.
