I approach therapy through a Liberation Psychology lens which means I understand psychological distress and well-being not just as an individual issue, but linked to the unjust world. As Latines in the diaspora we may have received social messages that feel polarizing; to be a caretaker and relinquish our selves or to focus on individual success to survive. I hope to guide my clients to connect with themselves and connect with their world. My clinical approach is grounded in attachment and emotion-focused frameworks, as well as inner child/Internal Family Systems.
My training as a Marriage and Family Therapist draws me to work with couples navigating differences in culture, class, or neurodiversity. I am especially interested in relationships grounded in respect and care that nonetheless feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or longing for more. I enjoy working with individuals whose life stories include migration, caretaking roles due to parentification, Latinidad, and Queerness. In my work, I find the process of connecting to our inner child parts and reparenting ourselves, rebuilds frameworks to build loving relationships with others.
If you’re looking for a therapist who honors your lived experience and sees healing as both personal and collective, I would be honored to work with you.
About me: My family is from the mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico, I am Queer, and I was raised in Chicago.
