About Dr. Yanira Hernandez, EdD, LCSW, PPSC

¡Hola y Bienvenidxs! My name is Dra. Yanira Hernandez, I am a bilingual, bicultural  trauma-focused licensed mental health therapist and CEO/Founder of Pa’lante Therapy, Inc. I center my work with BIPOC individuals with an emphasis on Latine communities. I am an ally to the LGBTQIA+ and undocumented/DACAmented communities. As the eldest daughter of undocumented immigrants from Puebla, Mexico, raised in South Central Los Angeles, I draw from my lived experiences of navigating two different cultures and oppressive systems to empathize and support my clients navigate cross-cultural conflicts and regain safety within their body as system-navigators.

I’ve been practicing as a mental health professional since 2011. My areas of specialty include trauma (e.g. racial/ancestral/intergenerational trauma, early childhood trauma, complex trauma in immigrant populations), anxiety, depression, stress, work-related burnout, perfectionism, professional identity-related issues, and deconstructing the imposter phenomenon (imposter syndrome) through intersectionality and trauma lenses . I am passionate about empowering First-Generation Latine comunidad, college/graduate students, undocumented/immigrant populations, and overall supporting Latine individuals who are system navigators and are in a journey of self-discovery. Whether you’re in or starting college or graduate school, starting a new career, or simply navigating your professional identity, you may be thinking, “Do I even belong here? Am I good enough?” Life transitions coupled with racial stress often disguised as the “imposter phenomenon” may bring up anxiety, depressive thoughts, or even traumatic stress. Digging deep into the origins of how the “imposter phenomenon” is impacting you may uncover wounds from intergenerational trauma, childhood trauma, or environmental triggers (i.e. systemic oppression, micro-aggressions, racism, machismo, marianismo).

If you are First-Gen Latine who is ready to heal from generational wounds, process the impact of oppressive systems on your mind, body, and spirit, find healthy ways to manage anxiety, or improve your overall mental and emotional well-being, schedule a free consultation. Together, we will understand unhealthy behaviors developed over time, overcome the past, regain your sense of safety, and identify solutions to live life authentically con confianza y fortaleza. It is time to reclaim your worth and restore yourself to the person you were always meant to be. Eres poderosx, siempre lo fuiste!

I provide linguistically- and culturally-responsive therapy and practice through trauma-focused, anti-oppressive lenses. I use a combination of treatment modalities to best support the needs of my clients. All services are in English and Spanish. Send me an email or a message if you would like to book a free consultation.

Con cariño, Dra. Hernandez
