Cultural Identities

About Diana Duarte, LMFT

¡Hola y bienvenidos! My name is Diana, and I’m a bilingual (English/Spanish) licensed marriage and family therapist passionate about supporting women, individuals, and families as they navigate life’s many challenges. As a first-generation Latina and daughter of immigrants, I deeply understand the strength, complexity, and resilience it takes to balance multiple roles, cultural expectations, and personal goals — often all at once.

I specialize in working with women who are moving through major life transitions — whether you’re advancing your career or education, navigating a separation or divorce, or rebuilding your identity while still showing up for others. I also work with step-parents and co-parents navigating court complexities, blended families, and post-divorce adjustment. These family changes can bring up grief, tension, and identity shifts — and I’m here to help you move through those transitions with clarity and support. Together, we’ll create a space where you can feel grounded, empowered, and connected to your own values.

Many of the clients I support are caregivers or first-generation professionals who often feel overwhelmed, anxious, or burned out. You may be used to putting everyone else first — holding everything together while your own needs go unmet. Maybe you’ve internalized messages that asking for help is weakness, or that being “la fuerte” means never showing pain. In our work together, you don’t have to carry it all alone. Therapy with me is a place to breathe, unpack, and just be human.

My clinical experience includes working with children, adolescents, individuals, and families across diverse settings — including schools, community mental health, and private practice. I have supported clients with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship struggles, family conflict, life transitions, low self-esteem, and identity-related challenges. When working with children and teens, I focus on building trust, creating emotional safety, and including caregivers in meaningful ways to support long-term growth.

I use an integrative therapy approach tailored to your needs, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Humanistic Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. My approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and grounded in deep respect for each client’s story. I believe therapy should honor both evidence-based tools and the lived experiences you bring — including your values, your family history, your humor, and your culture.

As a first-generation Latina, I understand the emotional tightrope many of us walk — honoring our families while also carving out space for ourselves. Therapy can be a space to unpack generational patterns, learn how to set boundaries without guilt, and explore what healing looks like on your own terms. Whether you’re navigating pressures to succeed, managing anxiety rooted in survival mode, or trying to reconnect with your voice after years of people-pleasing, I’m here to support you with compassion and clarity.

I also know that starting therapy isn’t always easy. Maybe this is your first time seeking support, or maybe you’ve been carrying pain in silence for years. Either way, I want you to know: you’re not broken, and you’re not alone. Therapy is not about fixing you — it’s about creating a space where you can be seen, heard, and supported just as you are.

Congratulations on taking the first step. Whether you’re struggling with stress, depression, anxiety, family challenges, or simply feeling lost in a season of change, I’m here to help. With me, you’ll always have a safe space to be who you are. Together, we’ll create a path forward that supports your healing, growth, and well-being — rooted in your strengths, your culture, and your truth.

Let’s connect — and begin your journey toward the life you want to create.
