You Found This Page for a Reason
Maybe you’ve been carrying something heavy for a long time—and you’ve gotten so good at carrying it that most people would never know. You show up. You adapt. You survive. But somewhere beneath the resilience, a quiet voice is asking, “Is this all there is?”
If you’re an immigrant, the child of immigrants, or someone navigating life between cultures, you may recognize this feeling more than most. The grief of what was left behind. You may feel the pressure of being the one who made it through. The trauma weighed heavily on your family even before it reached you.
You don’t have to keep carrying it alone.
About My Work
I’m Delia Asquel, a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #104486), licensed in California and Florida, with over 10 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through trauma, identity, and transformation.
My approach integrates body-based modalities—EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and Brainspotting—with relational and systemic therapy. We won’t just talk about your symptoms. We’ll work where they actually live: in your nervous system, your body, and the inherited patterns that were never really yours to begin with.
I believe healing is both personal and political. Your anxiety isn’t a character flaw—it may be the inherited hypervigilance that kept your family alive. Your difficulty trusting may be a rational response to systems that were never designed to protect people like you. Effective therapy must honor that complexity, not flatten it into a diagnosis.
Who I Work With
I specialize in supporting immigrants, children of immigrants, people of color, activists, artists, students, and the queer and trans Latinx community — as well as couples and families navigating intergenerational trauma and relational ruptures.
My clients are often high-functioning and deeply feeling. They’re the first in their family to seek therapy. They want more than symptom management—they want to understand themselves, interrupt inherited patterns, and build a life that actually feels like theirs.
If that resonates, you’re in the right place.
My Background
As an immigrant and woman of color, I bring more than clinical training to this work. I bring lived understanding of what it means to grieve a homeland, rebuild an identity, and find healing on the other side of loss.
I’m currently completing a PhD in Health, Environment, and Society, researching the social determinants of mental health in migrant communities. My clinical experience spans community mental health, Kaiser Permanente, Instituto Familiar de la Raza, and university settings—as well as adjunct teaching in graduate-level counseling programs.
I am not a neutral therapist. I name oppression, honor resilience, and work alongside my clients—not above them.
Let’s Begin
When you heal, your lineage heals with you. The nervous system you regulate becomes the safety your children inherit. The patterns you interrupt create space for your family’s liberation—not just your own.
You are not broken. You are the one who decided to begin.
