Hola! My name is Crystal Ortiz, and I am a Licensed Social Worker in Illinois. I am a proud Chicagoan (born and raised) and an even prouder daughter of a Mexican immigrant mother. I received my Masters in Social Work from the University of Chicago, and have since occupied a number of roles, including school social worker and infant/early childhood mental health consultant.
As a therapist, I work with clients of all ages and backgrounds, though I specialize in adolescents and young adult women. I am certified in trauma-informed care and have training in a variety of modalities especially aimed at minimizing the effects of trauma (such as TF-CBT, artistic expression, and more). I also help clients process a number of experiences, including life’s transitions and changes, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem/confidence.
My approach is person-centered, meaning I value collaboration and input from my clients. I prefer to come into the therapeutic relationship not as an expert, but as a guide and additional source of support in your healing journey. I utilize an eclectic approach, and I like to draw from modalities including CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, positive psychology, and more.
In my personal time, you will likely catch me snuggling with my rat terriers, Cloud and Leon, working on a new craft or art project (I paint, crochet, and embroider), or hiking at a nearby forest preserve.
Have any questions or want to learn more? Please don’t hesitate to reach out! I am always happy to chat and do a quick and free consultation with zero obligation.
