Cultural Identities

About char campos perez, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist #155775

Hi! Thanks for stopping by.

My name is char, and I’m a relational, trauma-informed therapist who works from a culturally responsive and decolonizing lens. My work is rooted in the belief that many of our struggles are not personal failures, but responses to systems, histories, and relationships that have shaped us.

I am especially passionate about working with undocumented and mixed-status families, LGBTQ+ folks, first-generation individuals, and those navigating intergenerational trauma. I hold deep respect for the resilience, creativity, and wisdom within our communities. In therapy, I strive to create a space where your full self — your language, your grief, your anger, your joy, your ancestry — is welcome.

My approach is grounded in relational-cultural therapy, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, and liberation-oriented frameworks. I believe healing happens in connection, not in isolation. Together, we move at your pace, building safety and trust as we explore the patterns and survival strategies that once protected you — and may no longer serve you.

I see you as capable, complex, and already carrying strengths. My role is not to fix you, but to walk alongside you as you reconnect with yourself and your relationships in ways that feel more aligned and liberating.

How I Practice:

My practice is centered on creating a therapeutic space that feels collaborative, culturally attuned, and grounded in care rather than pathology. I work primarily with emerging adults, adults, and couples navigating trauma, identity exploration, anxiety, depression, relational wounds, and the impacts of migration and systemic oppression.

Sessions are conversational and relational. We might explore family dynamics, cultural expectations, relational strategies, grief, or the ways you’ve learned to survive in environments that required you to shrink or harden.

I also offer support for:

– Intergenerational trauma
– Family separation and migration-related stress
– Queer and gender-expansive identity exploration
– Burnout and compassion fatigue
– Navigating academic or professional spaces as a first-gen or marginalized person

Therapy with me is not about quick fixes. It is about building deeper connection — to yourself, your community, and your sense of belonging.
