About Andrés Rivas, LGPC

English:
Therapy can be a place to pause, take a breath, and make sense of what you are carrying. Many come in feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward, and my goal is to offer a supportive space where you can explore your experiences with honesty, care, and curiosity. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem concerns, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I aim to create a warm, steady, and nonjudgmental environment where you can show up as yourself, without pressure to have everything figured out. I am able to offer counseling in both English and Spanish.
Our work together would focus on building self-acceptance, strengthening emotional regulation, and developing practical coping skills that can support you through everyday challenges. My approach emphasizes mindfulness, acceptance, and values-based growth. In my work, I use a person-centered and eclectic approach, drawing from CBT, DBT, and ACT.
As a Nicaraguan-American born and raised in Maryland, I understand how culture, identity, and lived experience shape the way we move through the world. In my role, I will walk alongside you, offer support and perspective, and help you build skills and understanding at a pace that feels right for you. I look forward to connecting with you.
I am in-network with Cigna, CareFirst/BCBS, United HealthCare. I do not take Medicare or Medicaid. Please reach out with any questions via email.
Acepto Cigna, CareFirst/BCBS y United HealthCare.
