My name is Andrea Garcia, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in San Antonio, Texas. I created Grounded with Andrea to provide compassionate, culturally aware, and effective therapy for teens and adults who are ready to heal and grow.
As a Latina therapist, I understand the unique pressures that many in our community carry. Family expectations, cultural values, and generational struggles often shape how we view ourselves and our mental health. For many Latinos, therapy has not always been encouraged, yet seeking support is a powerful act of courage. My goal is to create a space where you feel respected, understood, and free to show up exactly as you are.
I work with clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, codependency, and identity concerns. Many of my clients balance multiple roles as parents, partners, caregivers, or professionals and feel the weight of stress and expectation. Others seek therapy during moments of transition such as divorce, family changes, or career shifts. Whatever brings you here, I provide personalized support to help you feel grounded and empowered.
My approach combines evidence based therapies such as EMDR for trauma, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Trauma Focused CBT with integrative methods like somatic therapy, attachment work, and inner child healing. For clients who wish, I also incorporate faith based counseling, honoring the importance of spirituality in the healing process. Each session is tailored to your values, goals, and strengths so that the work feels both practical and meaningful.
I am especially passionate about helping clients set boundaries, improve communication, and break free from patterns that no longer serve them. Many of us were raised to stay quiet, keep the peace, or put others first. Over time this can create cycles of people pleasing, conflict, or burnout. In our work together, we will explore these patterns with compassion and create new ways of relating that protect your peace and honor your needs.
Healing in my practice is about more than reducing symptoms. It is about rediscovering who you are beneath stress, trauma, and expectation. Clients often describe therapy with me as supportive, real, and grounding. My hope is that you leave each session with greater clarity, confidence, and tools you can use in your daily life.
In addition to my private practice, I am the founder of Poderosa Rising, a nonprofit that uplifts Latina women and families in San Antonio. This role deepens my commitment to community healing and reinforces my belief that therapy is not just about the individual. It is about breaking cycles, fostering resilience, and creating change for generations to come.
I hold two master’s degrees in Counseling Psychology and General Psychology and bring over a decade of experience in trauma informed care, crisis response, and community mental health leadership. More importantly, I bring empathy, authenticity, and cultural awareness to every session.
If you are searching for a Latina therapist in San Antonio or anywhere in Texas, I invite you to take this step toward healing. Whether you are seeking trauma recovery, support for anxiety or depression, or guidance in navigating family and relationship stress, you do not have to do it alone. You are worthy of peace, joy, and healing, and I would be honored to walk alongside you on that journey.
