My name is Anamile Idalia Guerra, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) fluent in both English and Spanish, under the supervision of Jennifer Gonzalez, MS, LPC-S. I am passionate about mental health and deeply committed to helping individuals navigate life’s complexities and achieve lasting well-being.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) and a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from the University of the Southwest (USW). My academic background, along with ongoing professional development, has provided me with a strong foundation in evidence-based counseling practices.
My approach to counseling is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and respect for the unique experiences each person brings. I offer individual counseling for adults who are seeking to enhance their quality of life, build resilience, and better manage stress, anxiety, depression, or major life changes. Whether you’re coping with a recent transition, facing ongoing emotional challenges, or simply want to cultivate a more positive outlook, I am here to support you on your journey.
I draw from several therapeutic approaches, including positive psychology, person-centered therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to tailor my services to each client’s needs. These models help us focus on recognizing your strengths, developing healthy coping strategies, and fostering self-understanding and growth. Together, we work toward achievable goals in a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can safely explore your thoughts, feelings, and aspirations.
In every session, my priority is to create an environment where you feel heard, understood, and respected. Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is central to the work we do together, as it sets the stage for effective communication and meaningful progress. I believe everyone possesses the inner resources needed to heal and thrive, and my role is to help you tap into those strengths and navigate challenges with confidence.
Beyond individual therapy, I offer comprehensive mental health evaluations for immigration-related cases, including U-visas, T-visas, hardship waivers, and VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) petitions. I recognize the immense stress and uncertainty that these legal processes can cause for individuals and families. My evaluations are thorough, compassionate, and designed to clearly document psychological symptoms and the impact of trauma. I pay special attention to cultural context and family dynamics, understanding the importance of sensitivity in these often difficult situations.
To address financial barriers, I offer low-cost evaluations for individuals and families with demonstrated need. I am dedicated to making mental health support and documentation accessible to all who are navigating the complex immigration system.
In addition, I work with clients and their attorneys on personal injury cases. I conduct mental health assessments to evaluate and document the emotional and psychological effects of accidents, injuries, or traumatic experiences. These assessments are helpful for clients of every age, and my reports can be vital in legal proceedings, providing clear and credible evidence of psychological distress or progress toward recovery. My goal is to support both emotional healing and legal resolution by advocating for your needs and experiences.
Every person’s path to well-being is unique. My commitment as a counselor is not only to provide expertise but to walk beside you in your healing process—offering encouragement, insight, and practical tools every step of the way. Whether you are seeking therapy for personal growth or require professional evaluation for legal matters, I am here to help guide you.
If you would like to learn more about my counseling services or are interested in scheduling an evaluation, I invite you to reach out for a brief consultation. I look forward to the possibility of working together and supporting you as you take meaningful steps toward improved mental health and a brighter future.
