Hi, my name is Ana and I provide online therapy services at Aguirre Center for Inclusive Psychotherapy. I identify as a cis-het Latinx woman. I immigrated from Lima, Peru when I was 8 years old, and was raised in a bilingual and bicultural home. I can provide therapy in Spanish, English, or both languages based on client preference.

I know how difficult it can be to start therapy. It takes courage to ask for help and even more courage to do the hard work of being vulnerable and honest with yourself to explore parts of you that you may avoiding. I strive to create an inclusive, non-judgmental, empathic therapeutic space for my clients to show up as authentic selves. Together, we will explore the barriers and struggles that may be keeping you stuck in unhealthy patterns. I will work collaboratively with you to identify and unlearn skills that may have once been useful for your survival but are now limiting you and keeping you from who you want to be or how you want to show up in relationships. By exploring your needs, your wants and your values, you can learn to put yourself first and live a life that is authentically you. I’m passionate about helping individuals, particularly young adults, going through emotional difficulties and issues related to identity, anxiety, depression, parenting, chronic illness and other health-related concerns. Together, we can discover the best way for you to accept and cope with your emotions in a way that’s uniquely tailored to your experiences and strengths.

My lived experience as an immigrant and Latinx woman fuel my desire to provide culturally affirming care. I understand the challenges of navigating systems that were not designed for you, and the importance of awareness, reflection, and self-compassion to thrive in adversity. My psychotherapy practice is flexible but grounded in humanistic principles and cultural humility, utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) approaches. Importantly, my work is person-centered and collaborative – therapy is for the client and their goals guide the therapeutic experience. As such, I believe it is important to share power in our therapeutic relationship: you are the expert of your life and I want to help you regain some of that power by creating a space where you can go at your own pace in your therapeutic journey. I operate from a strengths-based perspective to assist in developing strategies to live life in line with your own personal values. I value showing up authentically, meeting my clients where they are, and remaining non-judgmental. I believe that being authentic is a necessary ingredient for the development of trust in all relationships. I hope to provide a space that is safe and supportive to process experiences and learn methods to live a fulfilled life. My social justice values are a strong foundation of my work as a therapist. I aim to understand my clients’ experiences in their context and their intersecting identities, in order to treat the whole person.

As Latinx woman, I understand the value in unpacking our intersectionality and how dynamics of of power, privilege and oppression show up in our lives. I strive to utilize my power and skills to advocate and provide care for underrepresented communities. As a part of my own ongoing personal and professional journey, I am dedicated to learning and continue learning about identities, communities, and ways of life different than my own.
