Hello! I’m Amy Melchor, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT). My journey into mental health began with my own experiences, which inspired me to pursue peer counseling. This path revealed how limited resources can prioritize survival over healing, instilling in me the core value of meeting people where they are.
As a child of Mexican immigrant parents, a neurodivergent individual, and a queer woman, my identity shapes my understanding of the challenges faced by those with intersecting identities. I bring a unique perspective to the therapeutic process, helping clients navigate complex systems.
I create a safe space for the parts of ourselves that are difficult to confront, allowing for exploration without judgment. I honor the survival strategies, such as substance use or self-harm, that clients may employ in tough times. My focus is on fostering safety in your body, empowering you through your story, and nurturing self-trust.
I have experience working with children, teens, couples, and adults grappling with trauma, chronic illness, C-PTSD, life transitions, anxiety, and depression. My therapeutic approach is in-depth, aiming to understand the hurdles you face in order to identify patterns that may be holding you back from the life you desire.
If you’re ready to take the next step in your mental health journey, please contact me to schedule your free 20-minute consultation. I look forward to working together!
