I’m Amy L. Cavazos, ATR, LCPC, a Mexican-American art therapist and licensed clinical professional counselor in Illinois. My practice, Colibrí Therapeutic Arts and Counseling, is rooted in creativity, culture, and community care. I support children, young adults, and families navigating life transitions, neurodivergence, anxiety, and identity exploration.
As a parent raising a neurodivergent child, I understand how overwhelming it can feel to balance caregiving, advocating in schools, and finding inclusive spaces. This lived experience informs the way I build therapeutic relationships—centering dignity, resilience, and family systems of support. I believe healing happens when we are seen fully, and I bring authenticity, compassion, and creativity into each session.
In our work together, I may integrate art therapy, play, movement, and talk therapy depending on you or your child’s needs. I also collaborate with occupational therapists, speech therapists, schools, and care teams to ensure holistic support. My approach is depth-oriented and sensory-informed, helping clients develop regulation skills, self-understanding, and confidence while also supporting caregivers in their journey.
