About Alejandra Ramirez, Psychotherapist

Hi!

I’m a bilingual Spanish-speaking Latina therapist born and raised in the border town of El Paso, TX. I understand being bicultural can be a beautiful and often lonely/complicated thing.

I absolutely love working with adult children of immigrants. As one myself, I know how meaningful it is to connect with someone who just gets it.

While all of our experiences are different, over time I’ve learned that we often share some similar challenges that can include having to grow up too fast, having our basic physical needs met throughout childhood but not always our emotional ones (and the guilt that comes with having to acknowledge this), feeling a lot of pressure and responsibility to care for our aging parents, and feeling both proud and resentful of certain norms/values in different Latino cultures.

You may be here because you want to process some of the things I just mentioned. You may be struggling with the effects of trauma (hypervigilance, intrusive thoughts, avoidance, social withdrawal), anxiety, anger, grief/loss…

I like to get to the root of issues by gently exploring how the past can be showing up in someone’s present. I am trained in EMDR, a comprehensive psychotherapy that helps individuals process difficult experiences. If someone is not ready to process certain experiences, I work collaboratively with clients to meet them we’re they are at. I draw from different modalities as well such as ACT and DBT.

I would love to meet you. Call OR text (972) 914-8110 for a free 15 min. consultation. I hope and strive to make you feel seen, validated, challenged, and supported. 🙂

Feel free to explore these following questions and see if you answer “yes” to any of them:

– Do certain memories bother you a lot?

– Do you wish you had someone to help you process hard things you’ve been carrying?

– Do you often find yourself pretending to be okay because you think others around you are worse off than you?

– Do you want to break free from harmful patterns you may have seen in your family of origin that only bring pain or destruction?

– Have you taken on the emotional weight of your parents’ struggles, stepping into a parental role that leaves you feeling overwhelmed and resentful?

– Do you struggle to see yourself with compassion and maybe live with constant anxiety?

– Do you struggle to express your feelings in a healthy way?

– Want to learn to let go of things outside of your control & make changes you can control?

– Are you currently, or have you ever found yourself in a relationship that’s abusive or witnessed abuse growing up?

Being a cycle breaker is hard but being trapped in patterns that hurt you and the people you love is harder.
