About Alejandra Ramirez, Psychotherapist

Hola! 🙂

I’m a bilingual Spanish-speaking Latina therapist born and raised in the border town of El Paso, TX. I understand what it can feel to be bicultural, to not only carry beautiful strengths but also inherited emotional pain and collective trauma.

Do you often find yourself pretending to be okay because you worry that if you show how you really feel, others around you might fall apart? Do you want to break free from harmful patterns you may have seen in your family of origin that only bring pain or destruction? Do you struggle with feeling responsible for supporting your parents financially or emotionally, even when it comes at the expense of your own needs? Do you ever feel a sense of obligation to “repay” your parents for the sacrifices they made? Do you struggle to see yourself with compassion? Do you feel guilty for wanting more independence in your life? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, I’m so glad you are here.

I want you to imagine how you wish you felt and consider that reality a possibility. The possibility of being a cycle breaker, of not feeling responsible for other’s emotions, and of not avoiding and suppressing your own…

I work with people (adults & teens) from all backgrounds but have a particular focus on supporting BIPOC individuals, as well as 1st & 2nd generation immigrants who may feel guilt, shame, anxiety, or pressure in balancing family expectations with their own needs and who may struggle with self-criticism or feeling responsible for others at the expense of themselves. I also support individuals affected by trauma, including intergenerational & intimate partner violence.

Intergenerational trauma can look like repeating harmful relationship patterns, struggling to express your emotions in healthy ways, feeling responsible for others’ emotions, relying on coping mechanisms such as emotional suppression, avoidance, and substance use and/or living with anxiety and fear.

It would be a privilege if you would allow me to work with you & get to know the real you. In a world full of chaos & hardship, I’m here to provide you with support in a safe space where you can feel & process what you need to. I provide trauma-informed & culturally sensitive care virtually and in-person to adults and teens all throughout the state of Texas. I draw from different modalities (including ACT & DBT). I am currently completing EMDR (a comprehensive psychotherapy) training and encouraged to now start treating individuals with this modality if requested. I love how it helps clients get to the root of problems. My supervisor is an EMDRIA approved consultant and certified EMDR therapist.

I would love to meet you. Call OR text (972) 914-8110 for a free 15 min. consultation. Let’s talk!
