Hola! I’m Alejandra Peña, LMFT-S, LPC-S and I’m a Latina and bilingual therapist and supervisor providing mental health services in Spanish and English in Austin, TX to individuals, couples and families, and providing supervision to new clinicians.
No single “type” of therapy is the correct one for everyone, so I work with my clients and draw from various modalities to help them figure out what will work best to achieve their goals. I use a trauma informed, feminist, collaborative and culturally responsive approach to therapy, and I’m a strong believer in the power of healing through connection and collaboration. My initial focus with my clients is to create a safe space for you to share your story in a judgement free zone as we work on building a genuine and strong therapeutic relationship. I worked for over 6.5 years in a local non-profit that serves survivors of domestic and sexual violence. This is a cause I am passionate about, and it’s an opportunity that has allowed me to work closely with immigrant and Latinx/Hispanic survivors. I’m starting to invest more time in my private practice to provide longer term therapeutic services and also provide trauma-informed therapy to survivors of other types of trauma. During the past several years, I have supported adults, children, teenagers and families from diverse backgrounds and experiences in their personal healing process; helping individuals and families heal from family violence, sexual assault, sexual abuse, traumas related to systemic violence and other traumas. I am passionate about working with individuals, couples and families from diverse backgrounds, identities and experiences, including people of color and the LGBTQ+ community. I specialize in providing support for Latinx/Hispanic and bi/multi multicultural clients. I also provide immigration evaluations to clients to who are seeking humanitarian relief in the United States. Currently, I only have availability for immigration evaluations for folks in Texas and Oregon.
