Hello, I’m Aaron Carrillo, a Spanish-English speaking licensed therapist (LCSW) in San Diego, CA specializing in helping adolescents and adults develop emotional attunement and feel empowered to navigate their lived experience with depression, anxiety, grief and trauma through a whole-person and cultural lens and using your personal strengths, motivations, and strongest aspirations as we explore how your thoughts, feelings and choices impact your life domains
Soon after college, Â I grew fascination and curiosity for how the human brain works, intrigued by understanding human connections, behavior and mental health. I began to understand how mental health was impacted by our culture, family of origin, environment, and social and political climate yet too often mental health was/is often individualized as a you problem… I’m here to change that narrative alongside with you.Â
I have special interest, compassion and drive to support BIPOC, Educators, First Gen.American/Immigrant Parents move through, often times, complexity of social and political nature of our identities and cultural experiences. Currently, I’m working on establishing a Pro-Bono emotional relief support group, mostly self-led, where we can connect, share resources, and support each other to mitigate stress, anxiety, traumatic stress, rage, anger, helpless and everything in between to mitigate and continue supporting our community and gente affected by immigration detention raids. Details to come.Â
