Rosa Shetty, LCSW, is a trauma-focused psychotherapist, speaker, and author whose work centers on the long-term impact of childhood and intergenerational trauma in Latinx/Hispanic communities, with a particular focus on women. As the daughter of Mexican immigrant parents and a first-generation professional, her perspective is deeply shaped by lived experience, navigating identity, belonging, and emotional life across cultures.
With over 20 years of clinical experience, Rosa has worked across a wide range of systems, including county and federal settings, hospitals, and comprehensive psychiatric clinics. This breadth of experience allows her to understand trauma not only at the individual level, but also within larger institutional and cultural contexts. She integrates evidence-based and somatic approaches including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and trauma-informed mindfulness.
As a speaker, Rosa brings a culturally grounded and relational lens to trauma, making complex psychological concepts accessible, relevant, and deeply human. Her talks often explore themes such as:
- From Survival to Healing: Childhood Trauma in Latino Adulthood
- The Inner Child in First-Generation Adults: Healing Across Two Worlds
- Intergenerational Trauma & Cultural Identity in Latino Communities
- Emotional Regulation in Cultures of Survival: A Trauma-Informed Approach
- High-Functioning Trauma in Latina Women: Strength, Silence, and Survival
- Boundaries, Guilt, and People-Pleasing in Latino Family Systems
Her work is especially meaningful for first-generation individuals and women in Latinx communities, where emotional pain is often minimized, spiritualized, or carried quietly. Through storytelling, psychoeducation, and reflection, Rosa creates spaces where people can recognize themselves with compassion and begin to relate to their inner world in new ways.
She is the author of Inner Child Meditation Journal: A 21-Day Guide to Connect with Your Inner Child Daily and host of the Inner Healing Paths Podcast, where she explores the emotional lives of adults shaped by early relational experiences.
