Speaker Bio

Paola Garcia M.S. LMFT is a private practice individual practitioner as well as a clinical partner with Capital Area Counseling where she supervises LMFT-track student counselors.

Her educational journey includes undergraduate studies at St. Edward's University in Austin, TX where she studied Psychology with a concentration in Behavioral Neuroscience.
She completed her graduate studies at Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio, TX where I was trained in solution-focused, family and narrative therapies in both English and Spanish.

Paola grew in Pleasant Grove, a predominantly low-income and BIPOC community in Southeast Dallas. Where currently there is little to no access to mental health services in the community. She was raised by two immigrant Mexican parents that encouraged her on a journey of self-exploration through education and hard work. Something that she carries with her to this day to empower other women, youth and therapists in training.

As a first-gen Mexican American therapist, a large focus of her work is in de-stigmatizing mental health and providing a space for clients to feel heard, validated and to be able to process values, traditions and patterns of behaviors. She also believe in making therapy accessible to communities where it is stigmatized or of limited availability.

She is big supporter of students on their journeys towards discovering their own career paths. As a Clinical Partner at Capital Area Counseling in Austin, TX she lead peer groups aimed at providing a space for student counselors to explore, guide and learn from eachother while on their own journeys as developing therapists.

She currently resides in Austin, TX and operates a full service online telehealth practice working with individuals, couples and families in both English and Spanish.

She is available for speaking engagements, workshops, and consultations to serve youth, women and therapists in training.
