Dr. Yanira Hernandez is a First-Generation Mexican American bilingual, bicultural, trauma-focused Licensed Clinical Social Worker, consultant, speaker, and educator based in Southern California. She is the Founder and Clinical Director of Pa’lante Therapy, Inc., where she centers her work with BIPOC individuals with an emphasis on Latine communities using trauma and intersectionality lenses. As the proud daughter of hardworking class undocumented immigrants from Mexico and a First-Gen professional from South Central Los Angeles, she not only empathizes with the community she serves but also actively works to decolonize therapy and mental health practices through healing and education.
Dr. Hernandez has devoted the last thirteen years to serving, uplifting, and empowering historically disenfranchised communities through advocacy and action, specifically within clinical and academic capacities including community mental health clinics, schools, homeless youth runaway shelters, inpatient
psychiatric units, and private practice. She specializes in working with First-Generation professionals, college/graduate students, undocumented/immigrant individuals, and Latine families. Additionally, Dr. Hernandez currently provides bilingual clinical supervision to school social workers. As a First-Gen Latina professional, she also supports First-Gen Latine college and graduate students through mentorship including training and supervising master-level trainees. Dr. Hernandez is an accomplished and passionate speaker with expertise in mental health among Latine communities, professional identity, imposter phenomenon, anxiety and stress management, trauma and resilience, wellness, self-care, and destigmatizing mental health and therapy. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to each speaking engagement leaving audiences informed, inspired, and empowered.
