About Psychiatrist & Referral Process

Hello, I am Lindsay Barrientos, PMHNP. My journey into mental health care is deeply personal. During some of the most difficult periods of my life, I struggled to find providers who understood my experiences or reflected my background. That absence of representation left me feeling unseen at a time when connection and understanding mattered most. I stepped into this role to bridge that gap, to be the representation, understanding, and safe space for others that I so heavily needed myself.

If you are seeking a mental health professional who can listen to you without judgment and can provide empathetic, personalized care that respects and honors your cultural identity, I can help. My experience as a female immigrant and fluency in Spanish allows me to connect deeply with clients from similar backgrounds, understanding their unique cultural and linguistic needs.

My practice is primarily medication management-based, thoughtfully integrated with therapeutic techniques to ensure a holistic and personalized approach to each client’s well-being.

I live in Los Angeles, and I am proud to be part of such a diverse community. As a Peruvian immigrant who came to the United States at the age of 16, much of my life has been shaped by navigating two worlds. At home, I learned the values of hard work, resilience, and family. Outside of home, I learned the complexities of adapting to a new culture and the often-unspoken pressure to assimilate.

Like many immigrants, I experienced the tension between embracing new opportunities and preserving the parts of myself that connected me to my culture and identity. Those experiences gave me a deep appreciation for the ways culture, language, and lived experience influence how people understand themselves and seek support. They also shaped my commitment to providing mental health care that is culturally responsive, inclusive, and grounded in genuine understanding.

If any of this resonates with you, I welcome you to book a consultation.
