About Jenny López, Licensed Clinical Social Worker

¡Hola y gracias por estar aquí!

Soy Jenny López, LCSW, IECMHS (ella/she/her), bilingual mental health therapist, Infant Family and Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist, and founder of Rooted in Nature Therapy. I was born in Oaxaca, of Mixteco roots, and grew up in Southern California. My experiences as an immigrant, FirstGen person, and bicultural therapist shape my curiosity around identity, belonging, relationships, and emotional well being.

I offer therapy for adults in Spanish, English, or a natural combination of both.

Could this therapy be a good fit for me? I often support those who spend significant time caring for, helping, leading, or showing up for others, while privately feeling anxious, overwhelmed, exhausted, or disconnected from their own needs.

This includes parents and caregivers, especially those caring for babies and young children. As an Infant Family and Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist, I bring additional training in the emotional and relational needs of children from birth through age five, as well as the experiences of the adults who care for them.

Therapy can offer space to explore parenting stress, changing family roles, your own emotional responses, relationship patterns, and how earlier experiences may be showing up in this season of caregiving.

This is therapy for you as the adult caregiver, rather than individual therapy for your child. When helpful, we can also make space to better understand your young child’s behavior, development, and needs within the context of your relationship.

Maybe you have been carrying a lot for quite a while. You may be navigating changes in a relationship, grief, family responsibilities, stress, burnout, or a transition in your life. You may also be noticing patterns or expectations that no longer feel sustainable.

Perhaps you have wondered: “¿Y yo, cuándo?” “When is it my turn to receive care?”

You do not need to arrive with the right words or have everything figured out. Therapy can be a place to slow down, understand what you are experiencing, and explore what support may be helpful.

What can we talk about in therapy? Our conversations may include:

• Anxiety, stress, and feeling overwhelmed
• Burnout and caregiving stress
• Parenting and family transitions
• Relationships and recurring relationship patterns
• Boundaries and difficulty saying no
• Grief, loss, and life changes
• Identity, culture, and belonging
• Family and intergenerational experiences
• Your needs, values, body, and sense of self

Through therapy together, we become curious about what your emotions, experiences, relationships, and stress responses may be telling us about what you have lived through and what you need now.

What is therapy with me like? My approach is collaborative, relational, and practical. We will shape our work together based on what is most useful and meaningful to you.

I draw from Interpersonal Psychotherapy to understand how relationships, grief, changing roles, and life transitions may be affecting how you feel.

With mindfulness-based practices, we may slow down and notice thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and what is happening around you.

I also integrate Motivational Interviewing, which can help when you feel uncertain, pulled in different directions, or are considering a change. The goal is not for me to tell you what to do, but to help you better understand what matters most to you.

Psychoeducation simply means learning together about experiences such as stress, emotions, relationship patterns, attachment, and the nervous system. Sometimes having language for what is happening can make an experience feel less confusing and offer a clearer sense of what may help.

Our sessions may include conversation, reflection, grounding, body awareness, practical tools, and opportunities to explore different ways of responding to yourself and others.

How does nature fit into therapy? At Rooted in Nature Therapy, I understand mental health as connected to our bodies, relationships, cultures, communities, environments, and the places where we live.

As such, I integrate ecotherapy and nature connected practices when they are supportive and relevant to you.

This might include integrating nature as a metaphor, noticing seasonal or natural rhythms, using your senses for grounding, paying attention to your surroundings, reflecting on your relationship with place, or spending intentional time outdoors.

You do not need to be “outdoorsy,” athletic, adventurous, or already feel connected to nature to participate in or benefit from this type of care. Nature-based practices are invitations, not requirements.

What might therapy support me with? Therapy may help you:

• Feel more grounded and less overwhelmed
• Better understand your emotions, needs, and patterns
• Create boundaries that feel more sustainable
• Navigate relationships with greater awareness
• Make choices with greater clarity and confidence
• Reconnect with your voice, body, values, and sense of self
• Find ways to care for yourself while remaining connected to the people and communities that matter to you

What are my options for meeting with you? I offer:

• In office therapy in Burbank
• Walk and talk therapy in Burbank, Studio City, Glendale, and La Cañada
• Telehealth for adults located in California

Sessions are 55 minutes and the fee is $175 per session. A limited number of reduced fee spaces at $155 may be available.

I also offer a complimentary 15 to 20 minute phone consultation. This gives us an opportunity to talk about what you are looking for, answer questions about therapy, and see whether working together feels like a helpful fit.

You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Beginning can simply mean making a little room for yourself and starting with a conversation. When you feel ready, it would be a pleasure to connect.
