Cultural Identities

About Paulina Mendez, LCSWA, LCASA

I became a therapist after many years working inside systems that ask too much and offer too little.

Before clinical work, I spent decades in community organizing, nonprofits, and local government, supporting people navigating chronic stress, violence, and barriers to care. That experience continues to shape how I understand distress, not as a personal issue, but as something deeply connected to context, history, and the conditions we’re expected to survive.

I offer online therapy in North Carolina and primarily work with women and femmes who are feeling worn down by stress, trauma, grief, or life transitions. Many of the people I work with are used to being strong and capable for others, often holding a lot without much space to be supported themselves.

My approach is relational, culturally grounded, and trauma-informed. Therapy with me is not about quick fixes or pathologizing your responses; it’s about slowing down enough to understand what your body and nervous system have been responding to, and creating room for clarity and choice.

Therapy with me is a place to soften, be understood, and move forward with more clarity.
