Hello,
My name is Yesenia Segovia, an LCSW based out of southern California. I am Salvadorean- American married to a Mexican-American and we have two salvi-mexican mixed adorable children. I am currently in my Madre era. Life is currently filled with, vibing at kid-friendly places and weekends filled with the enjoyment of the outdoors.
Enough about me. You are here to see if we will be a good fit. I understand the process of looking for a therapist can be daunting, and like other than a degree, if you are a first timer, what do you want in a therapist? Good question, let’s get into it.
To help with your search, I can tell you what it would be like to have therapy with me. With me, you will have a culturally aware and sensitive therapist who has the understanding of the latino culture traditions and values. From the machismo, the double standards of brother and sisters, and being the parentified sister, or the black sheep of the family. Navigating mental health in the latino community is different, and important to consider our experience as we dive in to mental wellness. Depression, anxiety and other mental health concerns do exist and it is not just for la gente loca. Mental health is a very human experience, which many of us need support to navigate.
Our sessions, will focus on your goals for your mental health growth. I provide a warm, compassionate, non-judgemental space to allow you to express yourself. I will support you with validation, listening, helpful and applicable strategies for real world situations. A big part of my practice is helping you, to increase your own confidence about how to manage on your own. As a way to prepare you, I often, will leave you with some homework; so you may practice outside of therapy. My therapeutic environment is honest and authentic. I can gently hold you accountable without making you feel judged. That’s my superpower.
When you work with me, you will look forward to coming to session to further your journey to heal and to reach your personal wellness goals. Although some sessions, may be tougher than others. These things are part of the process, and important for our therapeutic relationship to build the trust and get to the much needed vulnerable places. I genuinely care about your struggles and challenges and I am on your side rooting for you.
Whatever is troubling you, from relationship issues with your partner, friends, family or co-workers, boundary issues, people pleasing, to stress, and parenting. Or life transitions from starting college, a new career navigating the adult world or feeling the imposter syndrome of “am I even an adult, if I am struggling with so many life things from financial stress, to family, and many other things and feeling stuck.” All these things may feel challenging, impacting your mental health leading to anxiety, depression and increased stress.
If this sounds like you, we may be a good fit. Reach out to me and let’s get started. If you are interested in learning more about therapy with me book an appointment. Message me here, email me, or text me.
