Hello, I’m Zuneybi Contreras, a bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in the state of California. I am passionate about working with the Latinx and BIPOC community because I recognize the unique challenges facing our community. Whether you are seeking relief from anxiety, looking to process past trauma, navigating through life’s transitions, or seeking personal growth, I am here to guide you along the way.
Throughout my career, I have worked with diverse populations, including survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. I have also helped individuals and families experiencing anxiety, depression and trauma. I have extensive experience working with children facing behavioral challenges and work alongside both the child and family to provide both with the skills, support and guidance needed to thrive.
I commonly use principles and techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy and Managing and Adapting Practice to help you build coping skills and manage emotions and stressful events. I also use EMDR to process trauma or negative experiences that continue to impact you day to day.
I believe we all have strengths and resiliency that help us grow and thrive. I will work alongside you to help you learn tools and embrace your strengths that will help with life’s challenges. I will gently challenge you and the negative thoughts we sometimes get stuck in. Seeking therapy and asking for help can be scary, but you deserve a safe and non-judgmental space to heal, grow and thrive. I would be honored to be a part of your journey.
