EMDR Trauma Therapy for Teens & Adults

About EMDR Trauma Therapy for Teens & Adults

Hello, My name is Patricia Alvarado and I am a licensed therapist in California and New York. I want to personally welcome you to Alvarado Therapy, an EMDR group therapy practice. We are so happy that you’ve embarked on this journey of introspection, growth, and healing. Collectively, we have over a decade of experience in the helping profession, working with teens and adults. Our biggest focus is approaching each client with a multicultural lens that allows us to understand your unique needs through active listening, empathy, and a non-judgmental perspective.

As a team, most of us are First Generation where are roots span through various parts of Latin America.  We collectively understand the importance of cultural identity and approach each client with openness and curiosity as we learn about your own unique identity. This helps us understand you more on a deeper level while exploring how culture and language play a critical role within our work together.

This understanding of the First Gen experience paired with our own unique upbringing allows us to approach each interaction with empathy and a deep care and understanding for your story. We understand how difficult it is to even reach out for therapy services as it is often seen as shameful. We know what it feels like to feel unacknowledged, unimportant, and powerless. As therapists, this allows us to lean into the power of choice and most importantly, lean into the power of our voice. This message is what we bring into each therapy session.

When working with clients, we always put our clients first and meet them where they are at in this moment. While our practice focuses on EMDR Therapy, we can also understand that not everyone is ready for EMDR Therapy or are simply not interested in it, and that is okay. The biggest piece for us is that you don’t lose your voice in similar ways that you might have felt lost in the past. We value your input – that’s what makes a great therapeutic relationship! Nonetheless, our specialties include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Solution-Focused Therapy, Brainspotting, and Mindfulness.  We have extensive experience treating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and relationships. Our EMDR-focused approach helps desensitize and reprocess negative beliefs without retraumatizing—making it distinct from traditional talk therapy.

Each one of our therapists has differently availability. While availability is subject to change, here is our current schedule, as of August 2o25.  Our licensed clinician Courtney Nestor, LCSW currently has availability on Mondays and Tuesdays during the day. She can meet clients virtually or within our Pasadena office. Courtney is also an EMDR therapist and has experience in trauma treatment with her work within domestic violence shelters and at the VA.   Our licensed clinician Adriana Naranjo, LMFT has two openings on Friday morning. She is a highly skilled EMDR trauma therapist who has experience with PTSD, Complex PTSD, and Intimate Partner Violence, amongst other things. Our associate pre-licensed clinician Melanie Weinraub, AMFT is an EMDR and Brainspotting therapist who has current availability Mondays through Friday from 5am – 4pm with flexible scheduling as needed. Our associate Evelyn Jacobo, AMFT is an Spanish speaking EMDR trauma therapist focusing on trauma, ptsd, first gen, life transitions and LGBTQIA+. She currently has availability Monday through Thursday, with some in person availability on Wednesday and Thursday evening in Pasadena, CA. Our associate Ceci Frost, AMFT specializes in grief, life transitions, couples, and pre-marital counseling. She has availability on Tuesdays through Thursdays and can see clients out of our Ventura office in person or virtually across California. If there is a day and time that you are interested in, please do not hesitate to reach out. We can be flexible to meet your needs.  To learn more about us, visit us at alvaradotherapy.org. We look forward to supporting you on your healing journey!   ___ Virtual Trauma Therapists for Teens and Adults in California and New York. Contact via form in bio to book.
